So when my friends who are not tech nerds stop by, they usually find me in front of about 4 monitors. Most of the time, I’m working at least two projects and juggling a third as I become frustrated with the first two.
My friend “Eddie” asked me once. “Why do you use more than one monitor?” I gave him my top 10 reasons why dual monitors are a good idea.
- Copying files from one source to destination.
“OMG” once you visibly experience dragging a file from one screen to your second screen, you never want to go back to one screen. Beyond cool, this is more time efficient
- Cutting and pasting.
Now that you know copying files from screen to screen is more time efficient wait till you have the ability to copy and paste between Word documents or any two applications while these apps on separate screens.
- Picture and video editing
When you first start editing pictures and video the sheer excitement of learning and understanding new software is enough to keep man people more than interested. However after you realize how often you may to open, shrink and re-open windows, you appreciate a two screen experience immensely.
- Music Production
It is challenging to express how much of my time and sanity has been saved by using dual monitors when producing and type of music or audio tracks.
This one almost goes without saying. Hands down when gaming online, two monitors are better than one.
- Comparing products
When online shopping, dual monitors become such a valuable resource. You can actually and literally look at and examine two products side by side.
- Trading Stocks
If you’re into trading stocks, you may actually need more than two monitors. However for most home stock traders, two monitors will do the trick.
- Keeping track of your social media streams and feeds
If you’re a Twitter user than you know tweets travel at the speed of the Internet. Staying up to the second with Twitter and other social media platforms is so much esier with multiple Keeping track of your social media streams and feeds
- Streaming Video
OK, this is probably the top for a lot of folks. Streaming Netflix while working on a project can be a giant stress reliever.
- Running virtual machines
For Tech N3rds, this is one the coolest features ever of running in a dual monitor environment.
